I remember when I was a kid I had this 3 story tall doll house that had paperboard walls and floor and held together by plastic columns. Couldn't have cost very much but I played with that thing a lot!
My daughter always makes a house out of Lego's and then has her little people visit and go to the doctor, etc. So I had a brilliant idea to make a doll house for my her. I figured I could use plastic canvas and make something sturdy enough using yarn and a half cross stitch. I didn't realize at the time that this is a serious thing that people already do. There are tons of kits you can buy that are so detailed and amazing. There are also little pieces of furniture to make. Amazing!
Originally I was going to make a small doll house with a fold down front and then I figured I could make a larger one after working out how to do it with the small one. Half way through it I figured I really didn't need the fold down front. So, the roof is pitched differently than if I was going to make it the way it actually wound up. Made many mistakes along the way, but that's why I made a small one first. And now I'm actually going to go in a different direction altogether when I make a larger one. But that's for another day.....

Scary looking backside.
My plan included an interior (above) and then an exterior that has doors and covers up the scary backside to make it look more like a house. My daughter's favorite color is blue by the way.
The outside has doors and a cute little tree.
After completing the outside I whip stitched the interior and exterior together on the sides. It turned out relatively well considering I changed things half way through and that I didn't cut all the pieces to fit before starting. Lesson learned.
I plan on getting back to this one day to make a bigger one, but right now I have plans to work on some crochet.
My daughter has been using the house as a train station/house/everything building with her Lego train set. Awesome!
See you in a bit!
