It's funny when you've been pondering one of life's big questions and life seems to keep giving you the same answer.
I know you've had to have heard this before, but.....Don't be afraid to FAIL. Actually you should embrace it! How many times do you imagine that scientists "fail" when running an experiment. Or how many times Einstein tried to write a formula and "failed" before he got it "right". Or how many times I tried writing this before I got it "right" LOL
If you're not failing, you're not even trying.
I really think you actually have to fail at something a gazillion times before you will get it right. The "failing" is the practice, but sometimes we just think of it as failing. You should expect to fail many times every day! People tend to get depressed about what they think is constant failure. I think we let this get the best of us. I'm speaking from experience of course, so I know this happens to other people.
When you try something new it may not turn out how you imagined but you will always learn something. You may not know what the thing is that you learned, but trust me, you got something important out of it.
I was mostly thinking about this in relation to crocheting and knitting but it obviously applies to everything. I've recently been watching The Great British Baking Show (need to catch up) and was reminded of this again. How many times do you imagine each of those contestants "failed" at something new they were trying? Maybe it never worked out, but I'm sure they learned something from it. Our Pastor also brought up this idea last week.
So I prefer to think of failure as experimenting or practicing but I need to remind myself CONSTANTLY. I know it's not simple, but since I've been feeling as though I'm being told this constantly the past week I also feel like I need to pass this on. Maybe it can help someone else.
Applying this to crocheting, I've been thinking about making a stuffy from Bernat Blanket EZ Yarn. Does that make any sense? LOL I have no idea but I'm going to have fun trying to figure it out. My daughter likes to take a skein of it and just hug it, so to me that says make a stuffy out of it.
I also would really like to make my own marled yarn...and I'm going to. It might look hideous or it might be a major pain in the butt, however; I'm going to do it anyway. We'll see!
So, basically I would really like to encourage everybody to try new things you've wanted to try. If you "fail" it's ok. You should expect to fail on a regular basis. 90% of the time we probably all "fail". That's how you get to where you're going. It really is the journey not the destination.
Thank you for visiting!
