Who wouldn't love this crocheted Sun Hat!
Another great pattern I found at A Crocheted Simplicity.
The hat looks like it's floating because it's sitting on my daughter's Beat Bo Bow Wow. Just the right model for the height!
Being me, I decided I would use some yarn that I already have instead of actual cotton yarn that you should use just because I like the yarn and I wanted the hat. What better reason is there?
My daughter's favorite color is blue so I bought this yarn for her that has a blue colorway without knowing what I was going to do with it. It's Premier Yarn's Sweet Roll color Blueberry Swirl.
I particularly like the lightest blue with the darker blue specks in it. I'm a big fan of specky yarn. I'm pretty sure that's a thing. The pink and white yarn are leftover from the Dog Hat.
Interestingly, the way the colors turned out was completely by accident. I wasn't sure where any of the colors were going to fall and I assumed it would look good regardless since the colors are so great to begin with. I was right!
I simply started at the top and had to start a new cake around the lightest blue part on the rim. The new cake started out on the medium tone and quickly went to the darkest tone. So, it actually winds up looking like I planned it.
This is the dolls hat, which is what I attempted first. Being new to this style of hat I did not make the part that actually goes on the head long enough. I plan on frogging part of it and then fixing it. It was a great learning opportunity.
What will you crochet today?
